Slovakian coach happy to taste first victory

Dominican Republic coach Enrique Larrazaleta: "We wanted to win, but Slovakia is much better than us. My girls’ reception did not live up to my expectation. I’m not happy with their form. I think we made too many mistakes, especially in the first set, which we stood a better chance to win as we were leading 23-20. We could not make it, anyway."

Captain Yeniffer Cristina Ramirez Espinal: "I think we played this match hard as we did in the match against Brazil. We had a better chance to win in the match against Slovakia, but just had it slipped through our fingers."

Slovakia coach Marek Hencek: "I’m very happy to taste the first win. It’s our best performance in the championship. If we played this form, especially in the fifth set, I think we stood a chance to beat Italy. We lost to the Italians in the fifth set as well. I hope my girls will use their brain in playing their rivals in next matches."

Captain Jaroslava Samtanikova: "It’s good to win the first match in the championship. However, although it’s the rest day on Monday, I think we still practise. Head coach will decide the training session."
