German coach Brauer: Still some challenges left

Egyptian captain Walaa Amer: “Our players are not that tall so we face many problems to pass through the high block of teams like Germany or Serbia. Moreover, our reception was quite bad today”.

Coach Hesham Badrawy: “My girls are lacking of experience and our situation in Africa is especially difficult, as we have no teams we can play with for improving our level. At the last Youth Championships there were simply three teams competing there, so the girls are basically playing their first international matches and can not cope with the pressure deriving from that”.

German player Anna-Christin Quade: “It was important for us to win 3-0 and that gives us the right self confidence for the next matches”.

Coach Stefan Brauer: “It was not a great game. But I am happy that we won and we showed that we can steadily improve game after game. I decided to have some back-up players on the court so that I could use this match as a chance for them to feel the competition and gain some experience. We now move to the classification matches 9-16, there are very good teams there and as far as I know we’ll compete against Tunisia, Slovakia and Mexico, so we still have a few challenges coming up for the next days. We’ll use the rest day to finalize a few things during the training session and also to hang around a bit here in Nakhon Ratchasima, it is important that the girls can enjoy some spare time, otherwise they will feel that they have been traveling that far but did not really have the chance to see something else than the hotel, the competition hall and the training facilities. I am confident and I hope we’ll gain some more experience for the future".
