Mexican head coach Ricardo de Jesus says his players come up with the below-par performance in the match against Japan

Japan
Head coach Yoshiki Ogawa
“I think Mexico played well defensively and offensively. Their blocking was also excellent. We next have to take on the USA. They are a strong team and play fast with good spike. Their middle-blockers are also strong. To beat them is not easy, but my girls will try their best to reach that goal.”

Captain Chisato Mitsuyama
“On the previous match against Belgium, we did not play well. Our court coverage was not that good. Today, we also made several mistakes, especially on the back court reception. We have more to learn from the championship.”

Mexico
Head coach Ricardo de Jesus Nar
“It’s too bad that we could not beat Japan. Our ball control was not good. Our offence and defence also did not live up to my expectation. Japan are very strong. They played every part of the game well. Before coming here, I thought that it must be very difficult to advance to the latest round in the tough competition as every team is strong. I learn it now. We next play the European champions Belgium. We will try our best.”

Captain Xitlali Herrera
“We did not play well in the first two sets. We came back to win the third and had a chance to win the fourth, but we just blew the chance away. Head coach Ricardo shouted at us, but I know that would help improve our game. He did not intend to be angry with. We have to try again.”
