Almirante Brown, Argentina, August 25, 2011 - Vladimir Chivel and Jong-Beom Cheon are from different countries, speak different languages, but both have something in common: They are two of the tallest players in the Boys' Youth World Championship with 210 centimeters. And in Wednesday night, the two towers of the tournament had to face each other in the duel between Russia and Korea.
The two young boys share the honour with Shahab Ahmadi of Iran, who is also 210 centimeters tall.
Chivel was born on June 13, 1993 in Saint Petersburg, in Russia. Currently plays in Avtomobilist of that city. He performs as middle-blocker in the National Team. On the other hand, Cheon is also a middle-blocker and was born on December 18, 1993 in Korean territory.
There's a notorious physical difference between them, though: while Cheon weights 100 kg, Chivel is extremely thin with 80 kilos according to the stats. This means, 20 kilos less.
In the court, Russia defeated Korea by 3-2 and Chivel also prevailed in the race between them. The tall Russian scored 11 points, led the blocking count with 6 stuffs and half of them in the very last moment of the game, including the match point.
Cheon's performance was opposite, as he only scored one point and left the court after the second set, entering just for a while in the third and also the final chapter. Nevertheless, both will have their share in the history of the tournament.
