Team profile

Puerto Rico has qualified for four of the last five FIVB Boys Youth World Championships. The NORCECA powerhouse won the bronze medal at the 2010 Continental Championship held in Mexico, after beat the host.

The Youth Team is an essential part of the Puerto Rico National Program, which is one of the few in the world that has been able to qualify both Mens and Womens teams to the Senior World Championships.

The team training hard during last seven month, also play the I Pan American Cup.

Puerto Rico shares its pool with Iran, Serbia and Spain. The team's expectation is to qualify for the final round. The best ever performance of Puerto Rico in this or any other World Championship is 4th place in 1995 in San Juan.

Prof. Ramon Lawrence will make his WC debut as head coach of this exciting team.

Coach profile

Ramon Lawrence, born in Cuba. After work with assistant coach of Orlando Samuels in Cuba Men’s Team, he moves to Puerto Rico.

Lawrence debut in the Island with head coach of Ponce Leones Club in National League, last year the Federation appoint to coaching the Junior Team. Lawrence lead the team to beat powerful squad of Cuba and qualify to WC.

Also during the 2010, Lawrence coach the Boys Youth and qualify for this year World Championship in Argentina.

“Our goal is play good level, every match. I understand face the las WC Champions and runner up, but our team work hard and play good volleyball every day”, comment Lawrence.
