Team profile

The Youth National Team is giving continuity to the good project started by the Junior National Team, with the good performance in the 2011 CEV Youth European Championship, which was held in Ankara (Turkey) last april, where they reached the fifth place after an incredible overcome, winning five games in a row after the two starting defeats, including a straight-sets-win against the French runners-up. The expectations are prudent, after a really tough draw, where the young Spanish players will face current World Champions (Serbia) and runners-up (Iran).
Coach profile

Ricardo Maldonado Brooman. I was born in 1956 in Córdoba (Argentina)

I Started my sporting career as a qualified P.E. Teacher in 1979.

In 1980/1981 I qualified to be a professional Volleyball coach.

In my career so far I have trained the Argentinian clubs at all levels (including the Boca Juniors) and the National Youth and Junior teams, club teams in the first and second divisions in Italy, a first división club team for six years in Spain (Numancia in Soria) and currently the Youth and Junior Spanish National teams.

My coaching achievements include  two League titles in Argentina (1989/ 1991) ; a League Cup in Italy (1984/1985) , four runner positions and a win in the Spanish Cup (2007/2008). In my current position I have trained both the Junior and Youth teams to fifth place in the European Championships  and the Youth team (to the best ever position of any Spanish National Volleyball team) to fifth place in the World Championships (Italy 2009).

This year (2011) both the Youth and Junior teams qualified for their respective World Championships finals, and I am presently preparing them for these tournaments.
