Issei Maeda,
Captain of Japan: "Japan has not taken part to a world championship for
ten years. We aren't happy with our performance today and we must work more for
the future".
Masafumi
Oura, Coach of Japan: "First of all, I should say that the Egyptian team,
like the other teams that we played with, is a good team. As a result, we
learnt a lot during this championship. I would also like to add that this team
is working hard to become the Japanese senior team. During the
championship, we changed four of our players. For instance, our captain used to
play as the regular setter, whereas he didn't on this match. We did so because
we wanted to try to have a quicker and faster play. I believe we will gain
experience from this championship and from the mistakes we did. I know that our
team could have played better."
Omar Hassan,
Captain of Egypt: "I congratulate the Japanese team and I am very happy
that we won. I believe we succeeded in putting into practice what our coach
told us to do. We also did a good team-work, because we were more
self-confident. That's why we won!"
Attia
Hossam, Coach of Egypt: "When asked to give a final comment on the
championship, I must tell that I can not express my feelings now. The Japanese
team is a good team, we learnt a lot from their modern style of volleyball. I
hope to play again with them in the future."
