It was almost “Mission Impossible” for Tunisia

Russian Coach Sergei Shlypnikov in the press conference

Mahdi Sammoud, Captain of Tunisia: “To start with, I would like to remark that Russia is a real strong team. It was almost impossible to win against them. The whole match was really difficult for us. Actually we did not play giving our best but I think we will manage to improve in the next days.”

Ivan Nikishin, Captain of Russia: “I know we can play better than today as we made many mistakes. It was an important match as we wanted to start well this second round.”

Lotfi Ben Slimane, Coach of Tunisia: “We knew this match would be a difficult one. It was almost impossible to win. I have known the Russian head-coach for many years and I know that he has always been able to set up high-level teams. I think we did our best today. We played three difficult matches in Bassano and that is why I decided to replace some of my best guys with other players in order to make them recover and have enough energy and strength for the next teams we will compete against”.

Sergei Shlyapnikov, Coach of Russia: “Our main problem is that we cannot concentrate during the entire match. We sometimes loose three or four points in a row. Those episodes make the match go worse and create problems where there should not be. I obviously hope that we can reach the final, as I guess does every coach here.”
