Russia trounces Tunisia in 68 minutes

Russians Nikishin (15) and Stulenkov (5) blocking Besbes

Russia took the lead 8-4 with Stulenkov and Filippov each contributing two points. Stulenkov added two more points to his production helping Russia to arrive in front the second pause with a 16-10 comfortable command. Besbes and Ben Bey did their best for Tunisia but Nikishin answered from the other side of the net and Russia won the opening set by score of 25-18.

The Russians continued dominating and headed to the first stop leading 8-3. Tunisian Besbes hit consecutive spikes to cut the distance to 9-5. The difference stayed the same until Shchadilov hit a spike and then Kobzar hammered two aces for the 16-9 Russian lead. The attacks of Ben Othmen contributed to reduce the margin to three points at 20-17 but Tunisia couldn’t continue the momentum and Russia ended winning 25-20 with a powerful spike by Shchadilov.

Two aces produced by Ben Bey gave Tunisia a 4-2 advantage but Russia arrived to the first technical time-out in front 8-7 thanks to one ace by Kulikov. Tunisia tied up at 12-all following one ace by Obba but Nikishin scored twice around one ace by Stulenkov and Tsentalovich smashed one for the 16-12 Russian command. Nikishin scored the last two Russian points with spike and block for the win 25-20.
