Masayoshi Manabe, coach of Japan: Of course we are relieved to win 3-0 in straight sets. We still need improvement in certain areas. We would like to work on those areas before our next match. This was Kanako Hirai's first game with the national team and I wanted her to get used to the atmosphere. Risa Shinnabe will be an asset to the team during the rest of this tournament.
Norimasa Sakakuchi, coach of Chinese Taipei: We had trouble serving and receiving. Team Japan was almost perfect in both tonight. We tried to hit the ball as hard as we could, but this resulted in several mistakes for us.
Erika Araki, captain of Japan: Compared to yesterday's match I think today was better. All team members had the chance to play today which will be beneficial to us in the future.
Saori Kimura, Japan player: We elevated our game tonight. I made some mistakes. The next match will be tougher. I need to focus on my serves.
Kanako Hirai, Japan player: The first set our serves and reception were good. We had quick deployment which was key. I came in midway through the match but felt like I was able to get into the flow.
