Masayoshi Manabe, Japan coach: "This being the first game, I was a little worried at the beginning. The fact that we were able to win 3-0 made me very relieved."
Luca Cristofani, Peru coach: "We did not play our game well today. They need to play with more rhythm to get used to the system Japan plays. We need to improve our blocking. Some of the younger players were not able to adjust. We did serve well though. When Japan executes the first pass, they play well. If they are not organized on blocking, they can have problems."
Saori Kimura, Japan player: "We are really happy to win because it is the first game. We gave a lot of points to our opponents, however, so we have to improve on that."
Diana Soto, Peru captain: "It was tough for us as we only arrived in Japan yesterday. We had a tough time to get acclimated to the conditions here in such a short period. We will have to play better against Cuba tomorrow. The first set was bad, but we played better in the second and third. We must improve our analysis and concentration."
