Sammelvuo proud and grateful their two wins against Belgium

Finland captain Antti Siltala speaks at the post-match press conference

Tampere, Finland, July 4, 2014 – Finland closed their season campaign with another 3-2 victory over Belgium in Pool C of the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Tampere Ice Hall on Saturday.

Finland coach Tuomas Sammelvuo: “I’m proud and satisfied about the performance of this team. I’m grateful that we could end the World League with two victories. I’m happy for the young Tommi Siirilä. He has worked hard during the summer, including his club. He has become a high-level sportsman. These victories will stay in our minds and the minds of the crowd. We now have a holiday and we will forget volleyball for a while. We want to be ready in our main target, the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship. I wish Belgium good luck in the Final Four.”

Finland captain Antti Siltala: “In the fifth set our level was high. We had a 5-0 lead and it was something that was very difficult to forge a comeback. Our blocking was awesome and the pressure on our service was very high. I’m happy that we ended the World League with two victories.”

Belgium coach Dominique Baeyens: “I think this was a spectacular game for the crowd. I’m quite satisfied with the matches, but not totally because we lost. It’s understandable that the players thought of next week already and the Final Four, but when the team entered the court, they showed that they wanted to win.”
