Australian singer Bonnie Anderson headlines Volleyroos weekend

Australian singer Bonnie Anderson will be putting on a show for the crowds in Sydney

Sydney, Australia, July 2, 2014 – Australian volleyball fans will receive a double treat at this weekend’s FIVB Volleyball World League clash against Canada when Australian recording artist Bonnie Anderson will perform pre-match.

Australia take on Canada in Sydney’s Olympic Park, firstly at 19.00 (local time) on July 5 and then at 16.00 (local time) on July 6.

Anderson’s performances come hot on the heels of British singer James Blunt’s performance ahead of the World League clash with Finland in Australia’s capital Canberra.

Anderson was just 12-years-old when she became the first winner of “Australia’s Got Talent” in 2007 and her current hit single, “Blackout”, is receiving significant Australian airplay, and follows on from her first single, “Raise the Bar”.

She will also sing the following weekend at the World League division two semifinals, also at Sydney’s Olympic Park.

Two weeks ago the Australians shocked Canada in Edmonton when they came from two sets down to win 3-2 to effectively kill off Canada’s chances of playing in the World League semifinals in Sydney next weekend.

The Canadians will be out for revenge this weekend, with the clash of two of the world’s most exciting players a highlight.

Canada’s Gavin Schmitt is the highest point scorer in the World League this year, while Australia’s 212cm Tom Edgar is the World League’s tallest player and Australia’s highest-profile player.

Australia will host France and the winners of Pool C and Pool E in the Group 2 Finals on the weekend of July 12-13, with the winner reaching in the World League finals in Florence the following week.
