Korea chase victory against the Netherlands

Korea celebrate their straight-sets win against the Czech Republic

Daejeon, Korea, June 25, 2014 – Korea are keen to build on their victory against the Czech Republic in week five when coach Park Ki-Won's team take on the Netherlands at the Choong-Mu Indoor Gymnasium in Daejeon on Saturday and Sunday.

Last week's straight-sets victory against the Czech Republic has given a boost to the Korean team, who are in a positive frame of mind ahead of their encounter with the Dutch. The Koreans will also remember their victory in the second of two matches away to the Netherlands in the opening weekend of the World League Intercontinental Round, and will hope to do as well this time around.

Korea, however, are also looking ahead. Important objectives include qualifying for next year's World League competition and featuring well in the 2014 Incheon Asian Game. Ending this year's World League Intercontinental Round on a good note, with positive results at home to the Netherlands and away to Portugal, remains a priority.

Last week, Korea coach Park Ki-won's team demonstrated their will to win by putting on an aggressive and athletic performance against the Czechs. Jeon Kwang-in, Seo Jae-duck and Park Chul-woo were key elements in the team's
powerful performance in offense.

The Korean team will travel to Daejeon on June 25 to prepare for this weekend’s matches.
They will leave for Portugal on July 3.

Currently, the Netherlands are in second place in pool E with five wins, three defeats and 14 points. Korea are bottom of the pool with two wins, six defeats and nine points.
