Iran's captain: 'Germany’s team showed a difference game'

Captain of IRI (Saeed Marouf), Head Coach of IRI (Julio Velasco), Head Coach of GER (Vital HEYNEN), Captain of GER (Schöps Jochen)

Tehran, Iran, 13 July 2013 – Germany’s team showed a difference game from Friday's loss against Iran with a straight set win 3-0 (25-21, 25-23,25- 22) on Saturday.

“I am so proud,” Germany’s captain Schöps Jochen said. “We did a good job compared to yesterday. We had good motivation and readiness from mentality point. Result of 3-0 is clear, but it was a tough match."

“Being head coach is a hard job,” said Germany’s coach Vital Heynen. “Today players did well, our service was better, block and our pass was good so these three elements were enough for win. Maybe sometimes I can’t give good explanation to the players. Such as yesterday, I asked my players to win and we lost. Today we won. In a loss, the coach is always guilty. I believe yesterday Iran played fantastic and they impressed me a lot. As a coach I always like to win and it is a desire for all coaches."

“Germany’s team showed a difference game,” said Iran’s captain Mir Saeid Marouf. “We estimated to have a very challenging match. We controlled the game in the first set, but they took control out of us. In case of getting the second set there was probability in change of result. This shows that all players were tired but we did over best with heart and mind.”

“In reception, attack and service we performed weak,” said Julio Velasco, the head coach of Iran. “We didn’t have enough energy. All together I am satisfied with performance of my players, I congratulate to the German team.”
