We came here for three points: French captain Benjamin Toniutti

French coach Laurent Tillie at the press conference in Salta

Benjamin Toniutti (France captain): It was a strange game. We had a great 2-0 lead, but Argentina improved, adjusting its serve, and we couldn’t do anything. We are a little disappointed because we came here for the three points, but now we’re focused on winning again tomorrow”.

Luciano De Cecco (Argentina captain): “We used to lose these matches in straight sets, so we’re a little happy because we made a lot better but we came to Salta to win and that’s why we’re also sad.”

Laurent Tillie (France coach): “I’m happy because it’s not usual for us to defeat Argentina, but we wanted the three points because we had a slight chance of coming back to Argentina, to Mar del Plata (for the Finals). On the third and fourth set, Argentina played great volleyball and we fell a little, but in the end I’m happy about the win and we want to repeat tomorrow.”

Javier Weber (Argentina coach): “It’s not easy for me to analyse such a hard match now, so quickly, but we did some great things in the third and fourth sets. In the two first two, we weren’t able to do a single thing, and that completely changed in the next ones. But we need to learn to figure out when we can finish our opponent. We had France there, but we let them come back.”
