Frankfurt/Main, Germany, July 06, 2013 – Germany came back from a loss Friday to beat Russia 3-2 (25-21, 25-21, 18-25, 23-25, 18-16).

With the win, Germany’s team (14 points) racked up the line to Italy (19 points), and has the chance to catch the Italian team with another win next week.

“We saw that the Germans need the victory to be back in business,” said Russia’s Captain Sergey Makarov. “I think they had the chance to made it to the final round. They played a very good game, even better than yesterday. We didn’t use our chances, so the German team deserved the win. I wish them all the best for the future.”

“In my opinion Germany didn’t win the game, rather we lost it,” Russian Head Coach Andrey Voronkov. “Before the match we knew that Germany would improve their performance. We had the chance to win the game, but we don’t used the opportunities.”

“It is good to know that we didn´t make the same mistake like the previous day,” said German Captain Jochen Schöps. “We keep the pressure to the Russian Players. That is a great succeed for the team, because we learned something. Now we want also gained the win in Iran next week.”

“The difference is that we learned something,” said German Head Coach Vital Heynen. “Yesterday we gave the Russian Team the chance to come back. Today they made the equaliser also, but in the fifth set we fought and had a little bit luck in the end. I´m very satisfied with our performance.”
