Bulgaria's coach: 'Today Brazil was the team we know'

Press conference after second Brazil victory against Bulgaria

Brasília, Brazil, July 6, 2013 – Bulgaria’s head coach Camillo Placi congratulated Brazil for the two wins at their FIVB World League meetings this weekend in Brasília. On Saturday, the home side won 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-19).

“It was a different match from yesterday,” Placi said. “Brazil was calm, without the pressure that we saw on the last match. We improved our game, but it was not enough to stop them. The great chance to score a point was yesterday. Today, Brasil was the Brazil we all know.”

Bulgaria remained second in Pool A, five points behind Brazil, but Placi is still confident that his team can qualify for the Finals.

“I’m already thinking about Poland, our next opponent,” he said. “It is a tough pool, but we still have chances.”

Brazil’s captain Bruno Rezende remarked that Saturday’s match started close.

“We had to study their team a lot,” Rezende said. “We improved our serve from the second set on, so we were able to play more intensively.”

After five weeks, Brazil is on top of the Pool A, with 19 points. The nine-time FIVB World League champion is close to book their ticket to the Finals. However, Brazilian head coach Bernardo Rezende isn’t forgetting their next opponent.

“Today’s victory was an important step, but we’re not already mathematically guaranteed on the Finals,” Rezende said. “We’re focused on the United States team, which has been improving a lot recently. And we also have to focus on our team.”
