It was our worst match for two years, says defeated Serb captain

Serbia will be hoping to improve radically for Saturday's rematch with Russia

Kaliningrad, Russia, June 14, 2013 - Serbian captain Dragan Stankovic has claimed that their 3-0 defeat to Russia was his side's worst defeat in two years, while Russia's captain Sergey Makarov has hailed his team.

"This match is worst for the last two years for us, while the Russians played very well," said Stankovic. "Playing in such a way, we were not able to win."

"We served well today and the fans supported us very much," said victorious captain Makarov. "I think the reason Serbia lost today was jet lag, because they arrived from Cuba. We should focus on the match for tomorrow."

Serbia's coach Igor Kolakovic said: "The Russian service was too difficult for us to manage, and we made too many mistakes when receiving the ball. I can’t say we actually played after the first set. I think there was a psychological reason in our loss."

Russia coach Andrey Voronkov added: "We played well, but we can’t relax, because Serbia are a serious opponent."
