Russia's coach: "We don't expect to win every match 3-0"

New players of the Russian team faced some difficulties during the match against Iran

Kaliningrad, Russia, June 6, 2013 – Iran fell short in their second match of the 2013 FIVB World League match against Russia on Saturday, 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 25-18).

We did too many mistakes in service today as well as the Russian team,” said Iranian captain Marouflakrani Mir Saeid. “We played well and fought. Every player did their best.”

Despite Iran’s loss, the 3-1 win is an improvement from Friday’s first meeting between the teams, which ended 3-0.

“We played much better than yesterday, we managed to win one set and this is positive news today,” said Iranian coach Julio Velasco. “We did more mistakes than Russia and we should work more to solve this problem.”

As Iran brought the pressure, Russia’s team struggled to stay on top.

“The match was more difficult than yesterday, so we must work harder,” said Russian captain Sergey Makarov.

“We don't expect to win every match 3-0 and besides we have some new players in the team,” said Russian coach Andrey Voronkov. “We will analyse this game and correct our mistakes.”
