At 34 years of age, Krzysztof Ignaczak should
probably be thinking about slowing down,
but the lively Polish libero seems to be getting
better and better. He has now been named
the Best Libero two years running in the FIVB
World League and this year’s efforts paid off
handsomely as Poland took the top prize for
the first time in their history. Ignaczak, who
comes from Walbrzych, captured the award
ahead of Bulgaria’s outstanding libero Teodor
Salparov and Cuba’s Keibel Gutierrez. Ignaczak
also won gold with Poland at the 2009
European Championship and has played in the
last three Olympic Games.

Only players in the last four are eligible)
FIVB executive co-opted member Miroslaw
Przedpelski also presented the Best Libero award to
Krzysztof Ignaczak of Poland
