INTERCONTINENTAL ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
improve their game for the Finals. As in Portugal,
they ended the final stretch of Intercontinental
Round play with a 2-1 record, once again beating
Portugal (3-1) and Argentina (3-2). Germany
finished top of the Pool D table with 30 points
the highest in the Intercontinental Round –
followed by Bulgaria (21 points), Argentina (17)
and winless Portugal, who picked up their sole
point in the 3-2 loss to Argentina on the final day.
Bulgarian hot-shot Tsvetan Sokolov, who was
used sparingly in the first two games, produced
another 29 point haul against Germany to finish
as the highest scorer in the Intercontinental
Round with 240 points.
