INTERCONTINENTAL ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
Although they lost all three matches, Korea edged
ahead of USA for third place with three points from
three five-set losses. Kim was the top scorer in the
match once more against USA, but the Americans
put on a better blocking performance (16-6). Once
again, Korea matched the opposition’s points total:
105-105.
France’s 2-1 record put them in second
place with five points, three points behind Italy.
Against Korea, they had four players in double
figures, although Korea’s Park Chul-Woo top-
scored in the match with 23 points. Despite Park’s
output, the Koreans again struggled to penetrate
their opponents’ block (21-8). “I’m disappointed
because during these three matches we always
played good volleyball but we never won,” said
Korea captain Kwon Young-Min.
