Bakiewicz: "I regret that we weren't able to stay focused at the ends of the sets"

Brazil's captain Giba and coach Bernardo Rezende
Poland captain Michal Bakiewicz: “I would like to congratulate Brazil on the amazing game. Also I want to thank our fans who again proved today that they believe in us all the time. I regret that we weren't able to stay focused during the ends of the sets. Brazil is more experienced than our team and it this experience was a key point today. I hope we will be as well prepared for tomorrow’s game as we were tonight.”

Brazil captain, Giba: “Matches against Poland are always very hard, because they have great block and service, but my team was serving really well too, especially in the first and third set. It was a good test for us and for Polish team before the Final Round. I am sure that tomorrow will be harder, the second match is always more difficult. Now we have to rest and forget about tonight's game and focus on the next one.”

Poland coach Andrea Anastasi: “I would like to thank all the fans, it was a great experience for me, to see such an amazing atmosphere. And about the match – I want to emphasize that we lost two sets by two points. Brazil is a very experienced team and it was clear. I hope tomorrow will be better for us.”

Brazil coach, Bernardo Rezende: “I think that there is no person in the world who wouldn't get extremely emotional sitting in this hall tonight. In my opinion Spodek is one of the best, if not the best, hall in the world to play in. Our history has started here. My team won its first World League title here. The city of Katowice is very close to my heart. We were afraid of this game, because we are right after a long trip. It is not an excuse, but a fact. We played very well, on a high level. It was an opportunity for us to try a few things, for example, Dante played the whole game for the first time in this year's World League, after an injury. Maybe tomorrow we will see Giba on the court. I am proud of my team, because they stayed focused and played very hard. Tomorrow we will fight till the end.”
