Diaz: Fourth set was decisive

The rress conference after Serbia's match with Portugal (left to right) Serbia captain Bojan Janic, Serbia coach Igor Klakvic, moderator, Portugal coach Juan Diaz, Portugal player Manuel Silva

Portugal coach Juan Diaz: "I congratulate Serbia, since they had all the merit in recovering from a disadvantage situation and reach their goal. Now that the qualification it’s impossible for us, we have to add more points to guarantee the presence in next year’s edition of the World League. Today we bet on a young team and we gave the opportunity to some players to play and show their value. And I am pleased, since we have players with future, such as Ivo Casas, that despite his age (18 years old), played very well facing such high level players as the Serbians. Now against Finland we will try to add more points. We want to give new opportunities to the younger players, since Joao Jose and Andre Lopes, will not be able to travel to Tampere."

Portugal player Manuel Silva: "It was a very tough match. We made every effort to score, but we couldn’t. Life goes on and we will have to continue to work like we have been doing it until now."

Serbia coach Igor Kolakovic: "It was a very strange match, with many ups and downs. Portugal started with their second team, but kept on changing the players throughout the match. The fourth set was very important, since we needed to win the 3-points. I am very pleased with the team being able to recover from such a disadvantage and reach the victory."

Serbia captain Bojan Janic: "I am very happy since it was the first time that we achieved two consecutive victories. It was a very difficult match, despite the fact that we started the match very well. But the important thing is that we gained the 3-pts."
