Hector
“Picky” Soto, captain of Puerto Rico: “It
was a disaster and not what we had in mind. I don’t have another
word to describe it. We didn’t play the way we practiced during the
week.”
Michal
Bankiewicz, captain of Poland: “We
are happy because we won a very important game for us. I think
tomorrow’s game will be a tough one because I am sure that Puerto
Rico’s team is going to play much better than today.”
Carlos
Cardona, coach of Puerto Rico: “We
couldn’t make the adjustments in the first two sets. Their game is
very high and we couldn’t deal with it. In the third set we lost
the fighting spirit. Our serve game failed and we made too many
errors.”
Andrea
Anastasi, head coach of Poland: “I
am very happy for the guys because they have worked hard. This is a
very young team and they need to win some games to improve their
confidence. (Zbigniew) Bartman is playing as opposite for the first
time and he’s doing very well and our setter (Lukasz) Zygadlo is
also being tested as a regular player. This is the team that will
play the finals and we want to win as many games as possible. So
tomorrow we will go for another win.”
