USA captain David Lee: ”I’m satisfied with the result. Cubans are young but already very good. Our play in this World League Finals was unstable. We had great but also bad moments. To beat such teams as Russia or Brazil we still have a lot of work to do."
Cuba captain Wilfredo Leon: ”We had our chances today, but we didn’t seized them. Both teams were equal and the game was close. Considering the whole tournament, I think we played well, but of course I can’t be satisfied with the final result."
USA coach Alan Knipe: ”I’m happy, that we finally won a match and we finished the tournament with a victory. Today I gave the young players – like (Paul) Lotman and (Russell) Holmes an opportunity to show their skills. Their numbers were good. Overall I was very pleased with the level we showed today. During this whole tournament, where we played three difficult matches, we learned a lot about ourselves. Regarding the organisation of this event, playing in front of such spectators is a great pleasure. For the players it’s also an unique opportunity to show their talent and get experience. Polish supporters are very well educated in volleyball.”
Cuba coach Orlando Samuels Blackwood: ”For us it’s the end of a great adventure in this year’s World League. After 8 weeks we are going back to our country. We are tired physically and mentally, but happy that we had an opportunity to get experience from such excellent teams as USA, Brazil and Russia. I have a young team and I’m satisfied, that they qualified for the Final Round and played good there. However, the teams that we lost to in Poland are very strong and we still have to work a lot to get to their level."
