Russia coach Vladimir Alekno: “Today we had several debutants in the team and I consider they were rather good at the ground. It was important to win the first match, I’m satisfied with the score. The game tomorrow will be tougher and we shouldn’t relax.”

Russia captain Taras Khtei: “It was great to see a lot of fans and the climate at the ground helped us much. Any win is significant for us, so we are going to make less mistakes.”

Japan coach Tatsuya Ueta: “It has been our first match since 2009. The Russians caused a lot of problems for us, especially Alexey Spiridonov. I’m sure, the level of our game is higher than the one we have showed tonight. We will take into consideration the errors we made and will be better prepared tomorrow.”

Japan captain Daisuke Usami: “Russian spectators supported us, we could feel their kind and cheerful spirit. I think we were good in attack and we will keep on improving our game.”
