Gwangju, Korea, June 18, 2011 – After three weeks of the 2011 FIVB World League, Korea were sitting pretty in second place following some good battles with Cuba and France.
But after losing to Cuba on Saturday, they dropped to third (behind Cuba and leaders Italy).
The Koreans failed to counter Cuba’s high attacks, blocks and powerful serves, but will be looking to apply their own strengths – speed, good organization and youthful energy – in the rematch in Gwangju on Sunday, which will be the last of their eight home fixtures in the competition.
Han Sung-Soo has the speed of distribution to create problems for the Cubans and top spikers Jeon Kwang-In and Choi Hong-Suk have the ability to feed off Han and lead the Korean offense. Meanwhile, in defense libero Yeo Oh-Hyun has been outstanding.
Korea will be fighting for their fans and their honor on Sunday and they won’t go down without a fight as they battle for a place in the Final Round.
