German National Coach Raúl Lozano tackles the first home matches of the World League 2011 with 16 players on July 7th: Christian Fromm (VfB Friedrichshafen), Ricardo Galandi (SCC Berlin), Lukas Kampa (RWE Volleys Bottrop) and Markus Steuerwald (Paris Volley/FRA) are joining the team for the matches on June 11th (19.00) and June 12th (20.00) against Japan in the ZF Arena Friedrichshafen.
At the away matches in Bulgaria and Russia Lozano had only twelve players available, but at the home matches the Argentinean can count on 14 players. Right before the match begins he has to select the 12 players for the match. After the acceptable results of three points against the favourites of Pool B Bulgaria (3:2 and 2:3) and Russia (0:3 and 0:3) the German Team wants to make points against the non victorious Japanese Team to keep their chance to reach the final round for the first time.
“We want to win against Japan, but I don’t feel pressure because of the defeats in Russia. We have to serve more solid and with more pressure and we have to use our chances better”, says middle blocker Stefan Hübner. National Coach Raúl Lozano says: “We played good in the first match against Russia and we were able to retrieve our level, unfortunately we lost the sets marginal. In the second match we only played set number one good, afterwards we went down. We have to find back to our level against Japan and we have to see in which condition the players are, who are joining the team. After that I will decide about the squad.”
The Japanese, who have to play all their home matches away due to the ecological and nuclear disaster and will come as the first Japanese National Team after the disaster to Germany, were not able to get some points out of their matches against Russia (0:3 and 1:3) and Bulgaria (1:3 and 0:3), but showed their dangerousness. Particularly opposite Kunihiro Shimizu has to be handled. The opposite with the “left glue” was best Japanese scorer three times at the previous four matches and has already scored 52 points, which are just three points less than the German best scorer (Robert Kromm) and equal to Jochen Schöps.
The German team versus Japan: Robert Kromm (Ufa/RUS), Jochen Schöps (Odintsovo/RUS), Simon Tischer (Ankara/TUR), Patrick Steuerwald, Sebastian Schwarz (Perugia/ITA), Marcus Popp (Piacenza/ITA), Marcus Böhme, Christian Fromm (VfB Friedrichshafen), Max Günthör, Ferdinand Tille, Denis Kaliberda, Christian Dünnes (Generali Haching), Stefan Hübner (evivo Düren), Lukas Kampa (RWE Volleys Bottrop), Ricardo Galandi (SCC Berlin), Markus Steuerwald (Paris Volley/FRA)
