Middle blocker Ryan Millar was born on January 22, 1978 in San Dimas, Calif. He grew up in Palmdale, California and now lives in Alpine, Utah.
Millar (204cm, 98kg) joined the US team in 1999 and was a starter right away. He is a three-time Olympian, having competed at the 2000 Olympic Games, the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2008 Olympic Games where the US won the gold medal. He was also a member of the US World League team that won the gold medal in 2008. At the 2008 Olympic Games, Millar was eighth among all scorers with 97 points on 66 kills, 26 blocks and five aces. Ryan's 26 blocks put him fourth among all blockers with an average of 0.79 per set. He took the 2009 season off from indoor competition.
Millar played for Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in Poland during the winter of 2010-11. He is married to wife Suzanne and has two sons, Max, born in 2006 and Oliver born in 2010.
