Despite a solid club career, at “Neftyanik” (Yaroslavl), “Iskra” (Odintsovo), “Dinamo-Yantar” (Kaliningrad) and “Lokomotiv” (Novosibirsk), Valery Komarov has not won many national titles won. He helped take the team to the Russian National Cup with “Iskra” in 2002 and with “Lokomotiv” in 2010 and won silver in the Russian Superleague with “Iskra” in 2003.
For a long period he was not on the Russian coaches radar. But after a very solid performance in the Russian Superleague 2009/10 season Daniel Bagnoli has asked Valery to join his team. So at 30-years old, Komarov debuted for the team at the 2010 FIVB World League.
