  Middle player Matti Oivanen won the Finnish Cup in 2004, 2006 and 2007 and took silver in the Finnish League in 2007 and in 2008 with Pielaveden Sampo.

After leaving Finland Matti played for Beauvais France, Piacenza, Italy and last season for Forli, again in Italy.

He is 198cm tall and has played 117 matches for Finland.

Matti’s mother is the biggest reason why he started to play volleyball. His twin brother Mikko also plays for Finland.

Matti´s cousin Petteri Lax is also an athlete, having won the U23 European Championship silver medal.
