Cuba achieves clear win 3-0 over Italy and gets closer to WL final
Havana.- Cuba pleased a packed crowd of more than 15.000 spectators with a clear 3-0 win over Italy to secure the lead of Pool B of the Intercontinental Round at the 2005 World League.
Cuba started out with a 25-21 win in the opening set, followed by two other convincing victories 25-19 and 25-21 in about 80 minutes on court.
Raidel Poey, Yasser Portuondo and Osmany Juantorena made a great contibution to Cuba's sixth win at the World League, a very important victory as they aim to qualify for the final for the first time since 2001.

Italy takes revenge on Saturday and beats Cuba 3-1
Havana.- Italy erased a poor performance on Friday to take revenge with a 3-1 win over Cuba in Pool B of the World League Intercontinental Round.
The eight-time WL champions secured the victory 25-20, 23-25, 29-27 and 25-19 and both teams are now in the lead of Pool B with six wins and four losses, although Cuba is ahead with a better set average.
On the final weekend of Pool B, Cuba will face France and Italy will play against Bulgaria.
France beat Bulgaria 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 15-11) - duration 2:01

France denied Bulgaria from the finals
Bulgaria lost the last chance to go to the Finals of the World League, being defeated by France at home 2:3 (25:21, 22:25, 25:23, 23:25, 11:15). Martin Stoev_ team could not find a way to stop rivals_ attack, but the brilliant defense made it for France. That was the element of the game because of which they lost on Friday and it seemed that simply they learned their lesson.

Greece overwhelmed Argentina 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-22), but, in combination with the result in Katowice (where Poland came back to defeat Serbia & Montenegro in four sets), still trails Poland by two points in the standings of Pool C of the Intercontinental Round of the 2005 World League. With scoring well-distributed between Todor Baev (14), Elias Lappas (12) and Nikos Roumeliotis (10), Greece left few options to the Argentine side.

11 378 spectators gathered in Katowice went silent when the Serbian players began its' cheerful celebration after defeating Polish Eagles 3-2. Now the hosts must prove their leadership in group C and are looking forward to winning their ticket to Belgrade in Argentina.
