Bulgaria, first success. Azzurri risk to lost their road to the finals
Bulgaria won. A five sets match but well deserved by Stoev team. A real battle against an Italian team that in Roseto degli Abruzzi lost some of the resources they showed in the two winning matches of 2005 World League. Gian Paolo Montali's team suffered in particular in the third set when Italy lost the sparkling volley-ball they showed at the beginning. Italy had the strength to come back in the fouth set. But Bulgaria showed a good volleyball, very effective in attacking but still naïve in receiving and defence.

Italian revenge at the tie break
A sort of a deja-vu. Same story of what happened in Roseto just two days before. But with a different finale. At the Palarossini, in Ancona, Italy won at the tie break after another great battle against Bulgaria. Th Azzurri controlled the first set with confidence. Montali asked pressure on the Bulgarian defence. And the guys did well the job. Like in Roseto. And like in Roseto the turning point of the match was in the second set. Italy had the chance to lead but they lost it and gave the visiting team the opportunity to enter in the total control of the match. Italy lost the way. Bulgaria put pressure on the home side and clinch the third set. Italy had the strength to come back in the fouth set.
