Greece Downs Portugal For First 2004 WL Victory
Greece sailed to an impressive straight-set victory over Portugal in this second weekend of the 2004 World League. Following two consecutive defeats at home to superpower Brazil on the opening weekend, this was the first victory for Greece this season, as it prepares to play the role of the host team of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Unexpected Victory of the Chinese Team

Poland Overcame Bulgaria To Remain Unbeaten In 2004 World League
The home side prevailed over Bulgaria in four sets to reach for its third consecutive victory. In the opening and second sets the Poles used their first-class service and blocking skills to stop the Bulgarians who were also pushed to make a number of unforced errors. The Balkan team stroke back in the third part making use of Poland's weaker reception. But the Pool B leaders broke Bulgaria's strong resist in the fourth set and left the court victorious.

Chinese Wall broken by Playful Serbian and Montenegrin Team
From the very beginning, the Team of Serbia and Montenegro pushed its way to the maximum result, with good concentration and excellent team work putting up an unbeatable wall that the Chinese Team was unable to break.
It seemed that only the "Blue Team" existed on the court, as the Chinese Team tiredly tried to answer the "normal" game that the Serbian and Montenegrin Team played.

Poland Defeated For The First Time
The Poles lost their first match in 2004 World League. Except for the second set the home side was not able to find its usual rhythm of play. Bulgaria made a perfect use of Poland's unforced errors - and contrary to Friday's confrontation - stayed focused in the critical moments. Even extraordinary disposition of Piotr Gabrych, who topped the scorers' statistics with 22 points, did not helped the Poles as the Bulgarians reached for their first away victory.

Greece outclasses Portugal to score 2nd victory in Weekend 2
Portugal tried to enter the second game of the 2nd weekend double-header against Greece with a bit more enthousiasm than on the opening afternoon. But it was a futile attempt, as the home team (basking on the glory of the football victory of Greece over Portugal in Euro 2004, a day earlier) conceded one set but scored its second victory in as many matches this weekend.
