Poland Defeated By The French Reserves
Poland definitively lost its chances for the World League Finals as the home side was crushed by a highly determined French team, which performed unexpectedly well despite leaving its biggest stars at home. The Poles snatched a projected victory in the opening set but allowed the European vice champions to capture the remaining parts by making a number of errors in both attack and defense. France's Ludovic Castard topped the match scorers grabbing 27 points.

Cuba savors win after seven losses after beating China 3-1
Havana.- Cuba erased a negative performance of seven consecutive losses with a convincing win over China 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 25-22) in nearly two hours at Havana's Ciudad Deportiva Hall.
The host team's strong attack and efficient serve prevailed over the Asian squad to take revenge of the two losses in China two weeks ago, as part of pool C of the 2004 WL.

Greece returns to victories, edging Spain in five.
Following two unexpected defeats in the hands of Portugal, Greece returned to victory in the opening match of the closing weekend of the Intercontinental Round of the 2004 World League. Preparing to play the role of host team in next month's Athens Olympic Games, Greece overcame the resistance of Spain for a narrow five-set victory, 3-2 (21-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-14, 15-13).

Brazil without weaknesses
Brazil demonstrated why they win almost everything they play. With good spikes, aggressive serves and good attack combinations the Brazilian team showed that they lack of weaknesses. Despite that, Portugal tried to fight equal-to-equal with the yellow and green team but it was a lost battle being almost impossible to surprise Brazil.

Victory of the SCG Team bring them surely to the Finals in Rome
Eager in their wish to win this match and thus ensure their participation in the Finals in Rome, the Team of SCG showed an attractive and spectacular games, bringing to feet the whole hall. Inconstant in their game, both Teams made many mistakes but also fought hard for each point.

Bulgaria beats Japan 3:0, needs one more step to Rome
Bulgaria scored a "clear" victory 3:0 (25:22, 25:17, 25:19) against Japan and needs only one step to make it for the finals. As expected host team underestimated the opponents and has too much trouble in the first set. Japan was going equal till the 22nd point and it would not be unfair if they managed to win. However, Bulgaria found a way to get back in the track and closed successfully that set. That was the deciding moment for the game. After that the 6400 people crowd misbalanced Japan's serving and they crushed down. There is one more step of Bulgaria to go on the road to the Final of the World League in Rome.

Cuba ends 2004 WL campaign with convincing 3-0 win over China
Havana.- Cuba played an almost perfect game and ended its 2004 World League campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over China (25-18, 25-22, 25-19) in 70 minutes in front of a large crowd at Havana's Ciudad Deportiva Hall.
The young Cuban team improved its performance from the 2003 WL and expects to finish in the top eight overall, although that depends on the last Greece-Spain match. Javier Gonzalez, Pavel Pimienta, Yasser Portuondo and Raidel Poey all contributed to the win.

The Poles Overpowered For The Second Time
The French team snatched another unpredicted victory in Poland by overwhelming the home side in straight sets. Just like on Friday the Poles seemed to be completely powerless and challenged the European vice champions only in the second part of the game, when the French had served for the set twice before they left the court victorious. In both opening and third sets France's supremacy was undisputable.

Brazil headed to Rome
Brazil had today in the crowed Rosa Mota Hall, in Porto, a good test to the World League finals by facing an opponent that saw their performance grow in every match they play and never gives up fighting for the victory, reasons that allow Juan Diaz to face with hope the qualification for the European Championships. The Brazilian victory despite natural wasn't easy.

Spectacle of Skill, Experience and Art of Volleyball in the Victory of the SCG Team
In a frenzy of the full house of Sports Hall PIONIR, the two blue Teams - "Plavi" and Azzuri" fought hard to win.
With an advantage of being at home court and supported by frantic audience, the home Team started with a lead that they kept with full concentration and high spirit.
It was difficult for the Italian Team to find the right solution and tactics for the SCG Team.
Spectacle of the last match with devoted audience that showed how much they loved their Olympic Champions, strong and powerful as they were on the court.
Team work proved to be their best tactics ever. Inspired by their fans, they were just waiting to show all they can do.

Bulgaria beat 3:0, but Japan did not surrender easy
Bulgaria made it to the finals of the World League, beating Japan 3:0 (25:22, 25:19, 25:19) in their second game in Varna. However it was very hard to get to the point that qualified them for the final round. This night Japan was stronger and made it almost a nightmare for Bulgaria. The match was going almost like Saturday's till the middle of the second set. Than it was the Bulgarian train coming on its way to Rome.

Spain Beats Greece In Four, As Teams Split Victories On Closing Weekend
With no serious consequences at stake as far as the final pool rankings were concerned, Spain kept good on its promise at Friday's post-match Press Conference and defeated Greece 1-3 (23-25, 25-20, 13-25, 17-25) denying the home team the honour of bowing out of this season's World League with a victory.
