Storming victory by Bulgaria againt Poland
Bulgaria scored a brilliant victory 3:0 (25:23, 25:20, 25:15) against Poland and took the lead in pool B of the World League. The game was played in front of the President of Bulgaria Mr. Georgi Parvanov, who was awarded with the ball from the match by the winners. It was very nervous first set, with too many mistake for both teams. After that Bulgaria played with more concentration and step by step took their win. Both team were playing for the first place in the pool and it seems that Bulgaria is going to win it. However there is another game tomorrow.

Brasil beat Spain 2-3 in the first match of week 5 of World League 2004, in a disputed game in which spaniards were one step away to inflige the first defeat for defending champions after 26 games. However, Brazil showed all the skills and power that may take them to repeat victory in this years edition of the tournament.

Italy beats Cuba 3-2 in Havana
Havana.- Italy erased a 1-2 difference to beat Cuba 3-2 (17-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-19, 15-8) in around two hours at Havana's Ciudad Deportiva Hall, in front of a crowded audience.
Cuba seemed to be en route to achieve its second home win in the 2004 World League, but the Europeans' experience prevailed in the decisive tie-break.

New beginning for Portugal
Portugal achieved their second victory in this 5th weekend of the 2004 World League. Despite the balance in the five sets, Portugal showed superiority in the decisive moments, growing along the match and finally showing a true image of their value.

Bulgaria smashed Poland again and goes to the finals
Bulgaria scored another brilliant victory against Poland at home and made its main step to the finals. A 3:0 (25:23, 25:15, 25:22) win was a little bit tougher than yesterday's but it was more emotional for the host team. Vladimir Nikolov was above all, combined with smooth receiving, service and block for Bulgaria. The victory was important for "the Lions", cause it practically assured a place in the Final Four of the World league. From now one only almost impossible spin can put Bulgaria out of it.

Italy sweeps Cuba 3-0 in pool C of 2004 WL
Havana.- Italy only took just over an hour to sweep Cuba 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-21) to consolidate the second place in the pool C of the 2004 World League as the host country suffered its seventh consecutive defeat.
The eight-time WL champions kept a consistent performance in the three sets and took advantage of their rivals' continous mistakes. Andrea Sartoretti, Alessandro Fei and setter Paolo Tofoli led the "squada azzurra".

Brazil beat Spain 0-3 in the second game of week 5 of World League 2004. After the tight victory of the first match, the defending champions clearly defeated locals with the weight of the arguments that are taking them to be the favourites for the final victory in this year edition of the tournament.

Same attitude same result
As per example of yesterdays match Greece started by winning the first two sets but Portugal reacted with an important improvement of their game and equaled the match at 2 sets. The final set was very balanced with both teams battling for the victory that ended by smiling to Portugal that played another excellent recovery and conquered a moralizing victory.
