Japan's victory drought in 2004 World League continues as the Asians suffered a defeat to the Poles, in an always overcrowded Katowice's Spodek hall. The Polish team initiated with a heavy-gun service fire taking an early lead, 4:1. But the visitors stroke back rapidly and kept making the Poland's accomplishment in jeopardy, throughout the entire opening set. At the end, ten thousand dedicated Polish fans saw the home side's advantage (23:21) vanishing as the Japanese players won three points in a row. The Asian team served for the set twice but did not achieve its goal as the Poles avoided reception's errors.
