FIVB - Volleyball World Grand Prix

Croatian satisfied, will aim higher next year

The Brazilian Angelo Vercesi, Croatia coach

Samokov, Bulgaria, August 17, 2014 - Croatian team is satisfied with the third place in 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Group 3 Finals. Kazakhstan on the other side is grieving on missed opportunities.

Croatia coach Angelo Vercesi: We are very happy about today’s win but there is still some bitterness in our team because of yesterday’s match. Today we all played like a real team and presented character in the most important moments of the match. Anyway, I think that we will have higher aims in the future but we have to work harder.

Croatia captain Maja Poljak: It was a very intensive and interesting  game. Kazakhstan had some very good plays, very high and fast balls, but I am very happy that we used our opportunities in the best possible way. Third place in this competition is the deserved one for our team. Yesterday Czech Republic were just better than us and I would like to congratulate them once again.

Kazakhstan coach Oleksandr Gutor: All the four teams in this competition are on equal level but there are these little and important moments in which we couldn’t use our opportunities.  Croatia demonstrated very high level on serve and block. If we had arrived some days earlier in Samokov, we could perform better.

Kazakhstan captain Korinna Ishmitseva: Like yesterday we had our ups and downs but the opponent used their chances better than us. In today’s volleyball there is connection between all the elements, so I don’t think that there was a special component in our team that lacked most. We lost the connection.
