Volleyball loving Poland has a stellar reputation for hosting high level sporting events, which place it squarely in the international spotlight with the country gearing up to host the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship for the first time fromo August 30 to September 21.
The 2014 season will also make the 22nd time Poland will host an FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event, when Stare Jablonki - also the venue for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championhips 2013 - hosts a double gender Grand Slam. Other Polish sites of FIVB international beach volleyball events have been Myslowice and Warsaw, with the former hosting the Under 19 World Championships in 2006, the U21 World Championships in 2007 and the inagural U23 World Championships in 2013
Host City: Koszalin
Located 12 kilometers from the Baltic Sea Coast, Kozalin is the largest city of the Middle Pomerania province in north-western Poland.
In addition to hosting the Group 2 Finals of the 2014 World Grand Prix, the city has also organized matches of the 2013 and 2014 CEV Volleyball European League - Women as well as the 2012 Police Cup, which saw a Polish team, Atom Trefl Sopot, beat Vakifbank Istanbul in the final.
Venue: Hala Widowwiskowo Sportowa
The Sports hall in Kozalin is the largest and most modern facility of its kind in Middle Pomerania and is built to host sports events, concerts, conferences, trade fairs and exhibitions. It is the home base of Kozalin's local basketball team, AZS Koszalin and was the venue for matches of the 2014 CEV Volleyball European League - Women.
Construction of the hall was completed in 2012, with investment from the city and the Koszalin University of Technology. It was also supported by funds from the European Union, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, and the Misistry of Science and Higher Education.
