Poland sweeps Kazakhstan in quick victory at home

Poland celebrates during their 3-0 sweep of Kazakhstan

Plock, Poland, August 9, 2013. Without any complications, Poland's national team beat Kazakhstan in straight sets 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-12) on Friday, repeating their history against the team, who they’ve faced two times before in the World Grand Prix and in the 2008 Olympic qualification tournament and won each time.

Poland’s Katarzyna Skowronska-Dolata recived the MVP award, leading her team with 17 points. Kazakhstan’s Mudritskaya Tatyana led her team with 11 points, including 10 attacks.

The game started with a few failed serves on both sides, until Poland’s captain Katarzyna Skowro?ska-Dolata, made an ace to give the Polish team a 4-3 lead. However, the game was still close until Poland’s Lyudmila Anarbayeva spiked in a pipe set and Karolina Rozycka made a mistake and stepped on the attack line (6-8). However, she rehabilitated herself with two aces, which let the Poland's national team to take one point advantage over their opponent. The strongest element in Polish team was again Skowronska-Dolata, who played admirably from the first ball, supported by the rest of the team. She was the main reason why Poland with two points more on their account went to the second TTO (16-14). After this, Anarbayeva failed her attack on the right wing (18-14), leading coach Oleksandr Gutor to ask for a time out. Nevertheless, Poland's advantage increased to five points (20-15) by Zuzanna Efimienko's block. Sana Jarlagassova’s kill brought one more point for the Kazakh team, but after Efimienko's and Skowronska-Dolata's spikes and a successful challenge verification for White-Red team, the score was 23-16. One more time out for Gutor did not change anything, and Poland romped to a victory 25-17 with a Joanna Kaczor spike on right wing.

Everything was fine on the beginning of the second part of the game, but Poland lost their confidence very quickly. Kazakhstan, leading with one point advantage 5-4, forced Polish coach Piotr Makowski to talk with his team on time out. Gutor's Kazakh team started to fail some actions, letting Poland to take a control over their game once again. Efimienko served two aces for 13-9 and Makowski decided to make double substitution. Joanna Wolosz replaced Milena Radecka as a setter and Katarzyna Konieczna changed Joanna Kaczor in as a spiker.  Like a professor, Skowronska-Dolata finished each ball she had. Despite a spectacular defense by Tatyana Mudritskaya with her leg, Rozycka spiked well for 18-13. Kazakhstan tried to come back into the match, but was downhearted each time. With the score 22-14, nothing could help Gutor's team to change the history of this set, as Poland won 25-17.

In the third set, Poland again started well, gained a five-point advantage on TTO 8-3. The domination of Polish team was overwhelming in each element. Poland easily won defeated the Kazakhstan women in the final set 25-11.
