Busan, Korea, June 9, 2012 - Korea were dealt their second defeat on Saturday as Turkey sealed a four-set win in Busan.
Turkey captain Neriman Ozsoy: " The Korea team's performance was good, especially defence and serves were very good. For this, it was a little hard for us to lead the games in third and fourth sets, but we could manage those sets. As 2012 World Grand Prix is the preparation stage before the 2012 London Olympic Games and we will do our best to prepare OG and not to be injured during matches.”
Turkey player Naz Aydemir: “First of all, I would like to express Korea team's performance today. They showed good play with strong team-work and nice defense. Even though both teams are not in the best condition, it was a very exciting game. Also, for us, it was a great opportunity to have matches with Asian teams like Japan and Korea in 2012 World Grand Prix.”
Turkey Coach Marco Aurelio Motta: "It was a good game today. Both team had some problems, but we have better physical condition as we had more time to take a rest after the Continental Olympic qualification. I think we could go in the higher level with these 2012 World Grand Prix. Like other teams in 2012 WGP, we consider that 2012 WGP is also sort of preparation for the 2012 London Olympic Games and every team is getting better and better having matches.”
Korea Captain Kim Sa-nee : “Regardless of whether we win or not, I am concerned that there are many players on our team who are injured. It is indeed important that we win, but the Olympics is approaching, and it is a very important event. I just hope that there will not be any more injured players, and personally I feel bad for the other players for not being able to play again today. Two things, I should say, are the most important: the serves and the service receptions. To be able to serve in the most effective way and to be able to receive the serves without mistakes so that we can show our team play, we are practicing hard. These two are the main issues for us at this Grand Prix and for the Olympics as well. If we can improve our performance in these two matters, we will surely be able to go in the direction we want to go more easily.”
Korea player Hee-jin KIM : “I was a replacement for the injured HWANG Youn-joo today. I think I did well during the first half replacing my teammate. In the third and fourth sets, I showed some problems with my stamina, but I think we did well as a team. When I was on the bench, I had fears. But once I am a starting player, my fears fade away and my confidence level goes up.”
Korea coach Kim Hyung-sil : “First of all, my congratulations go out to the Turkish team for their victory. They absolutely deserve to be the European champion. I am aware that their members were not the best, but it still is a good team. During the team meeting today this morning, I emphasized the importance of not getting injured repeatedly, and then I told them that what follows next is improving our team work through gaining more on-site experiences. However, so far, we have four injured players. I must say I am thankful to all my players for playing in such hardships with no other players to replace them. They indeed are doing great under the circumstances. I just hope that there will be no more injuries on our team.”
