The FIVB World Grand Prix is now in its 20th year as the premier annual women’s competition continues to capture the imagination of volleyball fans around the world with its unique format and world class competition.
In the same format as 2011, a total of 16 teams will battle it out across three weeks of pool-play in 10 countries from June 8 to 20 ahead of the Finals in Ningbo.
The 16 teams are grouped into four pools of four each weekend. All games in a pool take place over three days in the same host city. Each pool is played in a round robin format. Overall ranking points are accumulated from one weekend to another.
After successfully staging the Finals of the World Grand Prix in 2007 and 2010, Ningbo, China will once again play host to the elite of international women’s volleyball.
The 2012 FIVB World Grand Prix will feature six teams in the Finals: China (as Finals hosts) plus the top five ranked teams after the Preliminary Round. It will be played over five days in a round-robin format.
