Since Norimasa Sakakuchi began as coach in 2006 continued efforts have been made to help improve the Chinese Taipei women’s team.
A selection policy which mainly focuses on young players has meant that the team has been able to gain experience quickly, building for the future.
To date the team has successfully entered the FIVB Women’s Championship in 1990 and 2006 with an 11th and 12th place finish, outstanding achievements in the context of premier women’s volleyball.
Their World Grand Prix results have left a lot more to be desired. Three editions have only returned three 12th place finishes with only one win to their name in ther last match in 2010 against Puerto Rico.
Following their right-to-the-wire qualification to the 2012 edition by having beaten Algeria on points ratio, Chinese Taipei now have another chance to improve their World Grand Prix record.
