China coach Yu Juemin: The opponent was very strong but we were well prepared

China coach Yu Juemin said the side still need to improve their back attack line
China coach Yu Juemin: “This was the first match of this leg. The opponent was very strong but we were well prepared. It was an exciting game. Technically, we did a great job in serving, spiking and blocking. Yet, we still have to improve the back attack line.”

When asked about their strategy against their opponent, Yu stated “Our players focused on defensing the powerful spiking of players number 10, 14 and 18 from Dominican Republic.” Also, he explained the reason why he changed Hui Ruoqi’s position from primary to right-side attacker, “This could give Wang Yimei more attack opportunities and less passing responsibilities.”

China captain Wei Qiuyue: “Although we won the game, there is still room for improvement. We did well at the net today. When our opponent gives us a hard time, we should respond more quickly and in details.”

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: “We are happy to participate in this competition. Although we lost the game today, we will try our best in the upcoming two matches to get more scores so that our team can get a ticket to the finals in Macau.”

Dominican Republic captain Milagros Cabral de la Cruz had similar opinion about the match: “We need to play better to gain more points in order to enter the finals.”
