Barbolini: "Winning a match means another step closer to the Finals"

Italian head coach Massimo Barbolini says winning a match means another step closer to the Finals in Ningbo, China.

Puerto Rico captain Vilmarie Mojica: "Congratulations to Italy for the win. It's a hard game. I think we played yesterday much better than today. Our next match against the USA is also difficult. We have been playing them for a few times and I think they hit hard with excellent tactics. We have to try our best."

Assistant coach Yarelis Rodrigue "We did not play well. Italy is a good team. They are very strong. We made a lot of mistakes today."

Italy captain Eleonora Lo Bianco: "We did much better than yesterday. After we lost to the USA, we had learned something. That's why We came back stronger. I can't say whether we can beat Thailand with ease. One thing I know is that we have to play a tough match against the host side. They are also strong. We have to do our best."

Coach Massimo Barbolini: "It's important that we have to win this match. Our goal is to win a berth for the Finals in Ningbo, China. To win a match means another step closer to such a goal. I think it's a good match today. Our defence and attacks are good. Today, we played without our libero Paola Cardullo as she injured her ankle while training and Francesca Piccinini replaced her. Against Thailand, we actually played them before. We beat them at the last year's FIVB World Grand Champions Cup in Japan. However, the Thais have also improved a lot of tactics and techniques. They are Asians and play with different styles. It must be a daunting task out there."
