Fabiana helps Rexona-Ades stay unbeaten in Salonpas Cup

Sao Paulo, Brazil, September 30, 2008 - Stellar Fabiana Claudino blocked for seven points on the way to a match-high 15 points, helping her Rexona-Ades club stay perfect in three outings in the women’s Salonpas Cup.

The defending champions defeated Finasa-Osasco 3-0 in a contest between the two unbeaten Brazilian teams. The Rio de Janeiro-based Rexona-Ades, coached by Bernardo Rezende, had to battle to prevail in the first two sets but this paved the way for victory in the third set against the Sao Paulo club.

The score was 25-23, 26-24, 25-18. Regiane Bidias contributed 13 points to the winning cause while Carol Gattaz and Monique Pavao chipped in 10 apiece. Paula Pequeño and Thaisa Menezes had 13 and 10 respectively for the losers.

In the first match of the evening, Pinehiros Mackenzie moved to 1-1 with an easy win over Kinder of Portugal (0-3) in just 64 minutes. The score was 25-10, 25-12, 25-14.

Fernanda Garay and Thais Souza, who played only the first two sets, topped the scoring for the winners with eight and seven points, respectively. Ligia Centeno also had seven after playing the whole match.

The schedule for Wednesday features Dominicans Centro Deportivo Nacional against Pinheiros Mackenzie and Finasa-Osasco against Italians Scavolini Pesaro.
