We can still improve our play

Manon Flier and Avital Selinger at the press conference

- I'm satisfied with our team spirit and current shape but I think that we can still improve and play much better - says Avital Selinger, the Dutch team head coach

Poland captain Dorota Swieniewicz: „First of all I want to congratulate the Dutch team for their great performance. As yesterday they played on a high level. I think that their style of the play shows that they have built this team for 3 years. On the other hand, we have been working with this squad only for two months. We will analyze this game later but it’s a pitty that in the first and third set we had our chances and unfortunately we didn’t capitalize it. ”

Netherlands captain Manon Flier: „I am proud of our team. Today we have some changes in the line-up. Our young players and experienced Alice Blom did a great job. I think that we played with a big confidence and consistency. Thanks to our serving pressure and good reception it was difficult for the Polish team to react.”

Poland Head Coach Jerzy Matlak: „It’s obvious that at the moment it is difficult for us to stay calm. Everybody knows that our biggest goal this season is the Europeans in Poland so the pressure and critics in media are already high and will be more and more intense. We have to handle this difficult period and try to prepare the best possible shape for the Europeans. As for this game I think we played better than yesterday but the Netherlands is of course more classy rival thank Thailand.”

Netherlands Head Coach Avital Selinger: „Today we played in a different line-up as for me the WGP is a great opportunity to give new players more experience. Besides, some of our players were injured and they already started to play. I am especially satisfied with the team spirit. However, we have still a lot of room to improve. I’m sure that we can play much better, maybe even tomorrow.”
