Head Coach Giovanni Guidetti: Today I am very disappointed with my team because I think that Russia played a really normal, or very bad game. We controlled the game every time and in every set we were leading by five or six points and then we made six or seven mistakes in a row. I can accept losing to a team like Brazil yesterday when they played so well, but I cannot accept losing today because we made too many mistakes. We had to play super defence, super serve and super block to be in front, but then we lost five or six points and lost the set. They are a young team but they have to start to learn to take responsibility and put the ball on the floor at the hot moment of a game.
Captain Christiane Furst: Russia played very well. We did a good match until the middle of the game, but after that I don’t know what happened.
Margareta Kozuch: I am sorry for Germany because today we could have won the match against Russia. Everything was in our hands but in the situation when we needed to get the points we could not play the percentage shots.
Head Coach Vladimir Kuzyutkin: Generally I agree with the German coach. It was a difficult and tense game, even though it might have looked like a good match. The fourth set was the hardest of all, but in the end we were able to overcome the situation and win.
Captain Marina Sheshenina: I am very pleased to win today. The first set was not so good, but from the second set we were able to play together as a team and as a result we could win.
Ekaterina Gamova: In general we could play a good game today. We had some mistakes but we could overcome them.
